Introducing FyfeWeb’s New Bare Metal Server Management Platform

Introducing FyfeWeb’s New Bare Metal Server Management Platform
We’re able to offer AMD Ryzen Dedicated Servers.

We’ve made some big changes to the way dedicated servers are provisioned and managed at FyfeWeb.

Our new bare metal server management platform and control panel gives dedicated server customers significantly more control over their hardware, directly from the FyfeWeb client area.

From automated server provisioning and operating system reinstalls to live bandwidth graphs, hardware inventory and browser-based console access, managing a physical server at FyfeWeb is now easier than ever.

Dedicated Servers, Without the Waiting Around

Traditionally, deploying a dedicated server involves a number of manual steps. An engineer prepares the server, installs the operating system, configures the network and sends the customer their access details.

We wanted to change that.

Our new automation platform allows supported in-stock dedicated servers to be provisioned automatically. The platform brings together server allocation, operating system installation and customer management into a much more streamlined process.

This means less manual intervention and a much faster route from ordering a server to actually using it.

Manage Your Bare Metal Server from Your Browser

Live bandwidth graphs for your dedicated port, from the last 24 hours to all-time.

Once your server is online, the new management interface puts the key controls directly at your fingertips.

Customers can manage important server functions through a web-based interface, including:

  • Viewing server power status and controlling server power
  • Reinstalling supported operating systems
  • Accessing rescue tools
  • Opening a browser-based KVM console
  • Viewing network and bandwidth statistics
  • Checking assigned network information
  • Viewing detailed server hardware inventory

FyfeWeb’s dedicated server platform specifically provides live bandwidth graphs, automatic hardware discovery, browser-based console access, OS reinstalls and power controls.

Browser-Based IPMI and KVM Console Access

Anyone who has managed physical servers before will know how important console access can be.

If a server loses network connectivity, SSH stops responding or an operating system fails to boot, remote console access can be the difference between fixing an issue immediately and waiting for someone in the data centre.

Our new management platform supports NoVNC IPMI/KVM console access directly through the browser. TenantOS documents its console proxy as allowing customers to securely access an IPMI KVM session through a web browser without relying on legacy local Java installations.

For FyfeWeb customers, this means much greater control when troubleshooting operating system, boot or network configuration issues.

Automatic hardware discovery keeps a live inventory of every component in your server.

Reinstall Your Operating System

Need to start again?

Supported operating systems can be reinstalled through the management interface without needing to raise a support ticket for a standard OS reload.

The underlying server management platform supports unattended operating system installations and PXE-based OS reloads, while FyfeWeb offers major Linux distributions, Windows Server and virtualisation platforms such as Proxmox VE on its dedicated server range.

This is particularly useful for developers, hosting providers and infrastructure teams who regularly rebuild systems or repurpose servers.

Live Bandwidth Statistics

We’ve also made it much easier to understand how your server is using the network.

The new control panel provides live bandwidth graphs for your dedicated network port, with FyfeWeb advertising views ranging from the previous 24 hours through to long-term usage.

The management technology behind the platform can collect network statistics from assigned switch ports and generate traffic usage graphs.

Whether you’re investigating a traffic spike, monitoring application growth or simply keeping an eye on network utilisation, the information is now much easier to access.

Detailed Hardware Inventory

Bare metal should mean knowing exactly what hardware you have.

Our new management platform automatically discovers and maintains a hardware inventory for supported servers. Customers can view details of the physical components installed in their machine, with FyfeWeb’s platform displaying information covering components such as the CPU, memory, disks, network interfaces and RAID controller.

TenantOS also supports automatic server inventory collection through PXE or an inventory process running on the server.

It gives customers a much clearer view of the physical infrastructure behind their service.

Built for Hosting Providers and Infrastructure Teams

The new platform is especially useful for customers running their own hosting or virtualisation infrastructure.

FyfeWeb dedicated servers can be used with platforms such as Proxmox VE and Windows Server with Hyper-V, with additional IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, tagged VLAN delivery and optional BGP or BYOIP services available for suitable deployments.

Combined with the new management controls, customers can run their own VPS platforms and infrastructure while retaining direct control over the underlying physical hardware.

More Control, Less Manual Work

The goal of the new platform is simple: give customers more control over their dedicated servers.

You shouldn’t need to raise a ticket just to view bandwidth usage, access a server console or perform a standard operating system reinstall.

Of course, the FyfeWeb team is still here when you need us. We continue to manage the physical hardware, network and data centre infrastructure behind your service. Our monitoring also helps identify hardware failures, with failed components replaced by our team.

The difference is that for the everyday management of your server, you now have significantly more control.
